The thing I love about knitting at a conference is it is such an icebreaker, particularly with women. I love that you find all kinds of closet knitters in these conversations and make friends you never would talking work.
These are my Hedera socks. one down one to go. If only I could knit on the almost 6 hours of flying time I will be doing later today.

Coffee and knitting - sounds like heaven to me. I never knew there was such a thing as a knitting conference. How fun! Your socks look so soft and snuggly - a bit warm for Darwin I'm guessing :)
The green is yummy, enjoy your confrerence:)
I remember searching the airconditioned cafes in Darwin. Love that knitting is the icebreaker between women. I would definitely try and get the seat closest to yours to get some sock knitting tips. And if only you could knit or crochet on planes....
oh they are looking SO good!
I worked on a sock all the way a conference in Alice Springs last year and yes, it did break the ice! I met a lot of people that way!
One of the things that most attracted me to learn to knit ahead of trying other crafts was the portability. I love the bubble I can make for myself anywhere with my knitting to hand.
I loved reading this post. The way you described Darwin made me feel as if I was there and the way you described your public knitting and the communication because of it.
I hate that you can't knit on the plane! So annoying and silly.
Loving that sock...and such a fab colour....dumb airlines know how to spoil a womans fun...:)
Fabbo socks. Really fabbo! About the flying and not knitting - I know I know. Even in America one is allowed to knit on domestic flights. Apparently Ms Yarn Harlot does it all the time.
Ah so you are not at a 'Knitting Conference'? but just at a knitting conference.
I'm impressed with anyone who can produce lovely neat knitting, socks just...well, just knock my socks off !
I love everything about your post! Coffee, socks, nice yarn and the tropics!
Are you back now? Hope your trip was a good one.
