a holiday

The pirate and I are heading off for a week in soggy Noosa in a few days. While the thought of all that rain and no swimming at the beach changes the way we saw the holiday it also means more time for seeing friends and projects.

So what to take?

I would like to finish my flair cardigan, so of course that comes along, and I have started knitting up this little bit of nobbly beginner spinning I did into a hat for a friend about to start 6 months of Chemo - so of course that will come along to give to her while we are there.

The lovely Nettie convinced me that magic loop was perfect for my little hat and now I do have to agree and am converted. It did take two videos for me to get it though. I am a little thick at times.

Through a chance discussion on Raverly Nettie and I discovered we are both learning French and are not too far apart in level, though I do have some catching up to do. We have begun to meet in town at lunch and try to practice our french while we sit under a tree and knit. How perfect is that?

Then I have a few things in the stash that call to me - like this Mama Lama Squish my sister bought for me to make something for my very cute niece.

And I need to take a bit of lace to challenge myself with. It will be my second attempt at a lace wrap and I'm not quite sure what to start with. Any suggestions for an interesting, but not too hard, rectangular wrap?

And a short neck scarf for my sister, one I have been wanting to make for a while and a super warm one to keep away the MS chills. Or should I try to learn crochet to do this one - which was the original plan till I heard that they won't let crochet hooks on a plane either.

I know I am aiming high here - but at least some of it will happen, that I can be sure of.

The hat looks quite gorgeous in that lovely wool - what a beautiful colour.

And I love that Mama Lama colourway, what are you going to make with it?

Enjoy soggy Noosa, and good luck with the lace wrap - off the top of my head the Woodland Shawl is a pretty straightforward pattern that makes a lovely wrap.

Ah Noosa! My second favourite heaven on earth.

Don't forget you will also have some stitchery homework to take away with you!

Ooh lovely plans.

I'm looking for an easyish rectangular wrap to get into lace with too so I'm really interested to see what you go for - at the moment I'm thinking of: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/woodland-shawl

I'll keep an eye on what you make with that Mama Lama. I've got one skein and haven't got a clue what to make with it. Enjoy your holiday.
